Preschool Aide

My name is Maria Patricia Vega. I was born and raised in Mexico until my family decided to move to Ontario when I was 13 years old. I attended OMS and graduated from OHS.

I learned English during my years at school, so I am fluent in both English and Spanish.
I am married and a mother of two young adult boys. My journey as an educator began 18 years ago when my children were ages 4 and 1. While going through the struggle of having to leave my kids in order to make a living, I realized the importance of good and caring educators. I started working with infants and toddlers at OCDC for three years and then transitioned into an assistant teaching job at MCCDC where I worked for over 15 years.
I obtained my CDA certificate in 2010. I have gained an extensive amount of experience throughout these years and have expanded my knowledge in child development. I have worked with children coming from many different backgrounds, children with disabilities, and challenging behaviors.

I enjoy working with preschool children; I get to see their progress both socially and academically. Coming from a Catholic family, I understand the importance of spiritual growth as well. I was a religious educator for eight years. I currently lead the “Ministry of Praying Parents” at the Blessed Sacrament Church where we pray for all the children around the world.
I am really excited to work for a Catholic school where I will be able to share my faith and also share both my love and care with the younger ones of our community.
